Justin lives and works on the unceded, stolen lands of the Wurundjeri Woiwurrung people of the Kulin Nation. He acknowledges and pays respect to the traditional owners of the land.
Justin Deng is a visual artist whose practice evolves from the reflection of diasporic experiences, exploring connections and disconnections between inherited culture and learned culture. As the first person in his family to be born in Australia and receive western education, he is interested in how the loss of language and cultural knowledge through immigration and the impacts of colonisation affects contemporary identity.
